The Right Snowboarding Apparel: Dress For Success

The snowboarding sport, much like skiing, has been an object of fashion. Unlike in basketball, where players wear shorts and jerseys, a snowboarding athlete wears much more. A typical snowboarding apparel includes goggles, helmets, polyester fabric clothing in turtleneck or vest designs, a pair of moisture-wicking socks, a pair of boots and of course the snowboard complete with bindings.

The helmet, as snowboarding apparel, is very important since it can prevent serious brain injuries to a snowboarder in cases of accidents. Studies show that helmets can help reduce brain injuries from sports such as motorcycling, snowboarding, or skiing by as much as 75 percent. Though most snowboarders hate to include the helmet in their snowboarding outfit, laws have been passed requiring snowboarding and skiing enthusiasts to wear a helmet while playing the sport.

Goggles are the most fashionable snowboarding apparel since they can easily define the social status of the one wearing it. Goggles are either made by Burton, Boeri, OVO, Salomon, Giro, or by other famous manufacturers. There are specific goggles that can be fitted under a helmet; so one must be sure to fit it properly before actually buying one. There are non-polarized and polarized models available that are fitted with 3 sets of interchangeable lenses.

An athlete needs to be comfortable and warm in the snow. The best clothing to be included in his snowboarding apparel must be made from polyester fabric rather than cotton fabric. Cotton fabrics usually freeze when drenched in sweat while polyester fabrics do not. Choose a moisture wicking polyester fabric to prevent wetness and moisture.

Snowboarding apparel, including boots must fit snugly. To check, the heel should remain in place whenever knee and ankle are bended forward. In tandem with the boots, wear moisture-wicking socks to avoid the feeling of wetness in the feet. An athlete must at least wear a pair of medium-weight or light-weight socks before trying out the boots.
